5 Worth Discovering Facts about Sweetened Drinks

There are already uncountable sweeten drinks being sold now in the market. Many people seem to like and splurge themselves on sweeten drinks without knowing certain facts about them. Sweeten drinks of sugar-sweetened beverages are drinks with high amount of sugar. They put too much sugar to achieve these drinks’ desired flavor. Example sugar-sweetened beverages include soft drinks, soda, energy drinks, coffee drinks, juice drinks and many more. Here are the facts about sweeten drinks that are worth knowing.

  1. Very Low or No Nutritional Value

These drinks have very little or no nutritional value and significantly increase risks of obesity. If you are much concerned of your health, it is essential to avoid drinking too much sweeten drinks because behind their taste and their effects to the body, what they really do is merely deteriorate your health’s condition.

  1. High Calorie Content

They contain too much calories that materially triggers obesity. This will further leads to various types of diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, and heart ailments. They are also high in kilojoules that are primary contributors of weight gain.

  1. Highest Source of Sugar

You must know that the highest source of sugar in a regular American diet is sweetened drinks. Every 20 ounce of serving contains 16 teaspoon of sugar. This causes abnormal levels of sugar in the body that causes diabetes.

  1. How to Reduce their Negative effects on Health

If you cannot really avoid drinking sweetened drinks, there are ways to reduce the risks they impose to your health. If you have been used to drinking sweetened beverages for a long time, it is quite impossible to entirely avoid it. For your health’s greatest benefit, you can at least choose sweetened drinks with low calorie content. If possible, you can slowly avoid them and replace them with healthier substitute. You can make your own fresh fruit juice or smoothie and take it with you at work or at school to avoid buying sweetened drinks. Or most preferably, you drink as much water as you can.

  1. Others

Studies have been consistently conducted regarding the health effects of sweetened drinks. Those who have sugary drinks for one to two serving a day are prone to diabetes for 26% greater than others. Even drinking an average of one serving a day exposes you to 20% risk of having heart attack. Plus 75% of the women who drink one serving a day have gout.
